Gallery: PAW 2004-end |

The Picture a Week (PAW) project was set on the Leica User Group mailing list to encourage photographers to take their cameras out of their showcases and actually use them. Regardless of its questionable beginnings, it remains an intellectually and artistically challenging mission. Here are links to other photographers engaging in the PAW project: p.s. there's more, I'm just to lazy to have linked all of them in yet... Even for seasoned photographers, the PAW project is useful because all of us fall into funks every now and then where we are not artistically inspired. Unfortunately, these funks can sometimes last months or years. The PAW project forces us to ... in the immortal words of Kyle Casssidy, "keep clicking that shutter button, eventually it'll get unstuck." This helps keep us out of ruts, even at the expense of occasionally producing substandard work (which I can see myself in my own PAWs). This year, for example, many of my PAWs are less than what I would expect of myself. But nonetheless, you must keep clicking that shutter button, keep editing those photos, and constantly strive for self-improvement (a philosophy we Japanese call 'kaizen'). Please e-mail me with comments or feedback about my PAW photos or any other material on this site: |
