Closing Remarks At the end of the protest, Mr. Kim Jeong-ok the director of DPI-Japan addressed the group, against the backdrop of the Diet Parliament building. He talked about what was being discussed in committee. The overall message was not positive - the bill was most likely to go through. He talked about what the next step was. Most of the implementation details of the Grand Design were left vague. The shift would now be towards making sure lobbying for proper bureaucratic implementation of the law at both the national and local levels. Although this protest coincides with the end of my fieldwork in Japan, I'll be continuing to track this issue as it progresses. Keep my blog bookmarked for continuing coverage.
